About This Item
Boston and New York: Junior Literary Guild & Houghton Mifflin Company, 1945. Junior Literary Guild selection. 4to. unpaginated. 46 pp. Orange cloth. A little glue residue from removed bookplate on front paste down end paper, otherwise a tight, clean very good copy./Worn and chipped dust jacket.. Illustrated by Arnold Edwin Bare. Ilenka was a pretty little girl who lived in the faraway country of Russia. She had a father and mother and four brothers. She had a fine warm home and a very nice school and pretty clothes and many friends. But Ilenka wasn't happy. She was't happy a bit.
And this is the reason. She didn't know what she wished to be when she grew up! Whe she decided to run a canal boat, she fell into the water. When she looked after her father's geese, they ran away. No matter what she tried, nothing came out right for her.
That is, it didn't until a very special something happened. What it was will be a surprise for you, as it was for Ilenka. And you will be just as happy as she was about it.
