The story of Hallie Crawford, who in 1916 went to teach school in Presidio, across the Rio Grande from Ojinaga, Mexico. In 1918 she moved to her new home, the Stillwell Ranch w/her husband, Roy Stillwell, & adjusted to the new life-style. Her story is the story of pioneering ranching in Texas. This work is the biography of a Texas woman and the difficulties she faced when she moved to Stillwell Ranch in 1918. The ranch and its inhabitants survived two world wars, the depression, droughts, an influenza epidemic, as well as the troubles of ranching in the Big Bend country.
