Philadelphia: S. Augustus Mitchell & Grigg & Elliot. Good+. 1837. Hardcover. 1837 first edition, second issue. Paper over board covers with dark blue cloth spine. There is wear and rubbing to the covers, with some discolored spots and some soiling. The binding is tight. Light foxing, mostly to the edges of the pages. The folding color map is present inside the front cover and has been nicely preserved in near very good condition. A scarce early Illinois book. The town of Commerce is listed on the map. Commerce would become Nauvoo just a few years later after being settled by Joseph Smith and members of the still-newly-formed Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. ; 143 pages .
