Edition of this 1869 printing not known - first published in 1857. In quarter black buckram and green cloth boards; very good, clean, tight covers, but not originals. Tight spine with gilt titles and blind stamped pattern. End papers beige, clean, and not the originals. Cut edges tanned. The text block is in good condition, tight, but slightly tanned, with foxing on most pages. Name or previous owner on one of the prelims. Title page also has name plus a small drawing copying the illustration. Small sticker on an end paper for 'Period BookBinders' in Bath.With many maps and engravings.
