About This Item
London, England: The British Library, 1994. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. An oversized volume of 144 pages with black cloth covers and sharp gilt lettering on the spine. The work is printed on high quality paper with much color illustration. The thesis of this book is to bring out something of the wider cultural significance of world maps chosen from different historical periods. A few of the older maps reproduced in this book have survived in unique copies, uncolored in order to re-create something of their original impact. Book is clean and binding is tight. Dust jacket has a cut down the middle of the spine about 2 inches from the top, perhaps from opening the book with a knife. Dust jacket is protected in an archival quality cover and looks quite presentable. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box.
