Glasgow: Blackie and Son 1862. Large 4to. xxiv, 680; 681 to 1368 pp., Binding 39 by 28 cm. Bound in full black morocco with gilt decoration and raised bands. Gilt turn ins and all edges gilt. Some rubbing to the hinges and bumping to the corners. Slight marks to the boards and gilt decoration bright. Internally clean with some spotting to the extermities and plates. This is a heavy set and may require additional postage if being shipped outside of Europe. . Very Good. Gilt-decorated Morocco. 1862.

Both volumes have frontis. plates after John Martin and seven engraved illustrated title-pages. Seven other full page plates after John Martin bound within. Original high quality mid-Victorian full polished calf in the medieval style with blind-stamped corner decoration within blind border frames and gilt titles to the spines within five raised bands. Original yellow end-papers but with evidence of original bookplates now removed on both front board inners. The family register page is at the rear of volume one and blank.
