Rare map of Southeast Asia by Gabriel Bucelin, from the work Praecipuarum Universi Terrarum Orbis, published by Johannes Görlin in 1658 in Ulm. The map is a derivative of Abraham Ortelius' miniature map of the region, and shows a misshapen India, the southern part of China, the East Indies, Japan and New Guinea, and extends to the northern coastline of America.

Faksimile nach der Ulmer Ausgabe von 1678. - Gabriel Bucelinus OSB (eigentlich Jacob Butzlin, pseudonym auch Gerhardus Belga, Bincelint und Buccelini; * 28. Dezember 1599 in der Burg Unterhof in Diessenhofen im Thurgau; † 9. Juni 1681 in Weingarten) war ein Benediktiner, Universalgelehrter, Historiker und Genealoge.Bucelinus hinterliess ein reiches Werk, das neben etwa 53 Schriften über Genealogie, Weltgeschichte, Hagiographie und Ordensgeschichte auch Pläne, Karten und zahlreiche Handzeichnungen vor allem von Klöstern im Oberschwäbischen umfasste. Nur der kleinere Teil von Bucelinus’ Werken wurde, bedingt durch die Wirren des Dreissigjährigen Krieges (1618-1648), veröffentlicht. This volume contains the genealogies of some of the most famous rulers and nobility of Germany and of the Holy Roman Empire, shown in graphic form with dozens of woodcut coats of arms. Period binding in full calf stamped with a profusion of gilt fleur-de-lis, gilt stamped armorial seals on front and rear covers showing three lilies in a sheild surrounded by thorns, the words Lilium Inter Spinas above, Collegium Grassinaeum below, copper engraved title, (10), 151, 64, 97, 282 (36) pages. Front cover detached, covers and spine badly chipped and worn, text block sound with two leaves detached and worn about the edges but present, numerous dampstains, very minor worming to the index, names on preliminary blank and title page. A quite rough but complete copy of this volume.. Hard Cover. Poor. Folio - 33 cm Tall.
