First American edition, first printing, first issue with sticker on copyright page adding American illustrator Brock Cole's name (the British edition has a different illustrator). Signed by Lynne Reid Banks on title page. x, 181 pp. Bound in publisher's brown cloth with gilt spine lettering. Near Fine with light wear, typical square of toning to title page, in a Very Good+ dust jacket, unsunned with a tear near head, repaired with tape on verso, a little associated creasing, unclipped. The first book in the popular children's series, uncommon signed.
Synopsis
The Indian in the Cupboard is a children's book written by British author Lynne Reid Banks, and illustrated by Brock Colein 1980. It has received numerous awards, and was made into a film in 1995. The book was followed by four sequels: The Return of the Indian (1985), The Secret of the Indian (1989), The Mystery of the Cupboard (1992), and The Key to the Indian (1998). All were published by Doubleday Books in hardcover, then by Avon Books, now HarperCollins, in paperback.
