About This Item

New York: Phaidon, 1999. First edition and first printing. Hardcover. 480 pages. Features an introduction by Luc [Lucy] Sante. A massive monograph divided into 9 sections each showing the horrors that war, famine and indifference has on mankind. Illustrated throughout with Nachtwey's haunting and chilling black and white photographs and includes 382 tritone images as well a guide to them in the rear. A tight close to near fine copy in cloth boards and from the library of the Visual Studies Workshop with a small and faint sticker shadow to the spine and another small sticker to the rear pastedown. Otherwise a clean copy free of marks. No dust jacket as issued. A stunning production of this brilliant testament to man's inhumanity towards other men.
