Beaufoy, EJ Hudson and others, 104 B/W photographs, 8 distribution maps and 40 diagrams. Note to Second, Revised Edition: Dr. A. D. Imms died on 3 April, 1949. The Editors gratefully acknowledge the assistance and authority of Dr. GC Varley, Hope Professor of Entomology at the University of Oxford, and his colleague Dr. B M Hobby, who have revised the text.
