Missing DJ, light shelf and edge wear with corners lightly bumped, some foxing to endpapers and edges of reading block. ; First book club edition, first printing with no other printings listed, 1957. Khaki cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine, map endpapers. Nice tight copy, no names inside. Very heavy book and priced accordingly. ; The Inside Series; Vol. 5; 974 pages; The fifth of American journalist John Gunther's Insider series. Gunther traveled extensively through Africa researching the book interviewing political, social, and business leaders; talked with average people; reviewed area statistics; and then wrote a lengthy overview of what he had learned, how he interpreted it, and what he expected the future to be. Interesting to see how his expectations in the mid 1950s compare with what actually happened. .
