The Hungarian Championship for 1929 was played in Gyor and sponsored by the Gyor Chess Clubs. The master's section comprised fifteen players. Geza Nagy scored 10 points with David Przepiorka coming in a close second with a score of 9 1/2, followed by Lajos Asztalos with 9. Both Vladimir Vukovics and Arpad Vajda tied for 4th with 8 1/2 each; followed closely for 6th by Max Walter Lajos Steiner. The fact that Geza Maroczy with Hans Muller came in 8th place with 7 1/2 each demonstrated the strength of the field. Kornel Havasi followed with 6 1/2 and Endre Steiner with 6. To round out the field Janos Balogh 5; Adolf Steitz, 4 1/2; Gyozo Exner 3 1/2 and Sandor Gruber 3.
Condition:
Rebound, some indentation to early pages, age toning to pages, some staining to plates else a good copy.
