On occasion of the 60th birthday of Bernhard Kagan, the "Freie Schachvereinigung Berlin" arranged a small tournament with 10 participants. The field was noticeably strengthened by the participation of Efim Bogoljubov, who had returned to Germany after a two years stay in Russia, and also Rudolf Spielmann. The favorite Bogoljubov won in the end, despite a bad start with a loss to Ernst Gruenfeld in round 2. Spielmann disappointed a little. The tournament was sponsored by Viktor Tietz. After Bogoljubov was Akiba Rubinstein a full point behind and the folowed by Gruenfeld, tied with Spielmann and Carl Ahues with +5 of 9. Edgar Colle had clear sixth with +4. Friedrich Saemisch, Paul M List and Paul F Johner all tied for seventh through ninth with +3 1/2. Walther von Holzhausen was a full point behind them for last.
