About This Item

Southern Pines, NC: SPW Publishing Co., 2002. First Edition. . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Wellard, author of scientific and technological books and articles, was prompted to write this novel by events he witnessed as a young boy visiting his grandparents' farm in rural Virginia. Though the story of two black men wreaking vengeance after an incident of Klan burning and murder is highly fictionalized, Wellard has captured the bigotry, bootlegging, and corruption of 1930s Virginia and provided an authentic snapshot of that time and place. First Printing, First Edition. Signed and inscribed by Wellard on the title page. Boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows only a tiny price sticker on the front flap, o/w dj is close to perfect, no tears, no creasing, chipping, or bumping. Not price-clipped. A collectable copy.
