About This Item
Alberta, Canada: Southern Printing Company Limited, 1974. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 545pp. Octavo [24 cm] Blue spine and boards with gilt stamping. Illustrated throughout. The text block is cracked at the rear, but is still very sturdy. From the Introduction-
"When speaking at St. George, Utah, to gather people to build the irrigation system in Canada, Apostle John Taylor said that he could not see why anyone would stay in St. George country with such a country as Canada available to live in. He got called on that. One settler told him flatly that they had been called to settle that country and they would stay there and build it up as they were told to do. And so they did, unless specifically called to go elsewhere. They loved the beauty of those bare mountains more than any place on earth. But the same fierce loyalty brought people from all the Mormon settlements on special call to settle Canada and build an irrigation system.
