Includes scarce dust jacket with photo of native islander to front panel, biography and photo of Davis to back panel and $2.50 price to front flap intact. Illustrated with 15 full-page black-and-white photos of inhabitants. Examples include small girls dancing the "Legon," a devil dancer of Bali and cockfighting. Ernest Hemingway once described Davis' writing as “fantastic . . . magnificent.” 279 pp. 8 1/2" x 5 3/4". Tight, unmarked copy with crisp corners, faint wrinkling to head and tail of spine panel and sturdy hinges. Dust jacket with occasional creasing, primarily to extremities, and several minor areas of loss to spine panel extremities and corners.
