About This Item

Isleta Pueblo, New Mexico: St. Augustine Parish, 1978. First Edition . Trade Paperback. Very Good. 6" x 9. 36 Pages. Stapled binding. Sixteen page center section of black and white photographs. Light wear to front cover edges. No other defects noted. This reminiscence of the Pueblo of Isleta people is a documentary dedicated to all the venerable priests of the past and present who have laid the cornerstone and the foundation of this magnificent church, and to those who have maintained it through the centuries and to the faithful people who still keep it up and use it to worship Our Heavenly Father as faithful Catholics. New Mexico as a state is the youngest continental state and was admitted into the Union in 1912. It has a long tradition and history. The tradition began with the Indians who have been here since time immemorial. Recorded history begins with the arrival and explorations of the European nationalities and the conquests which followed which constitute a mighty epoch in the history of Caucasian civilization. It has a rich known culture welcomed by different races of people. This is only a brief summary of what came about among the American natives when they came in contact with the Spaniards who came to be known as Conquistadores (conquerors). What they brought and what they accomplished is history now. There is no doubt that a race of people inhabited the western hemisphere for unknown centuries. With the coming of the European race the knowledge of the natives grew deeper and they adopted the new concepts for wider fields of endeavor.
