Tall folio (45 cm. in boards). pp. 22 + 92 black and white plates containing ground plans and photos depicting the surrounding gardens, the landscape and the architecture of many Italian Renaissance villas including Villa Medici, Fiesole; Villa Celsa, near Sienna; Villa Cuzzano, Verona; Villa Bernardini, Saltoccio Lucca; Villa d'Este, Tivoli; Boboli Gardens, near Florence,Villa Garzoni, Collodi and many others. Bound in publisher's olive green cloth. Re-backed preserving the original spine. The binding is sturdy but shows soiling and wear; the corner tips of the boards are bumped and contain small professional repairs. Interior is mildly toned; the half title displays some scattered foxing; an occasional faint spot of foxing is present elsewhere. Interior is otherwise generally clean . First published in London, 1925.
