About This Item

New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1980. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/About Very Good. The 20th novel by Kotzwinkle, an award-winning satirist and fantasy author, is the life story of Jack Twiller, aka the Masked Man, Tailspine Tommy and Secret Agent X-9 and a dozen other comic book characters from the 1940s. The book asks the question: Can a young man from a small mining town in the East find happiness as a human being? Jack finds one answer when he meets the Undressing Lady though this first moment of bliss is spoiled somewhat by a priest who hints he won't fare well at the Last Judgement. Small smears of what appears to be paint on top edge of both covers near the spine and on the front end page; top edge of text slightly soiled, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square. The predominately white dustjacket is lighlty soiled and shows wear, including a couple of small, quarter-inch tears, along the top edge; no large tears or chipping, no creasing, not price-clipped. Becoming scarce and hard to find.
