Berlin: Ambrosius Haude, 1733. First German edition.. Hardcover. Very good. 16mo. [16],444,[20] pp. plus 20 copper-engraved plates and approximately 90 blank leaves. Contemporary calf, spine stamped in blind, leather label stamped in blind, raised bands. Front free endpaper lacking. Binding rubbed and moderately worn, offsetting in first two leaves, minor worming in rear pastedown and several rear blanks. Very good.

First German-language edition of Garengeot's SPLANCHNOLOGIE, OU L'ANATOMIE DES VISCERES (first published in Paris in 1728). René-Jacques Croissant de Garengeot (1688-1759) was a prominent French surgeon and author of several works on surgery and anatomy. The 20 anatomical illustrations of viscera in the present work were taken from drawings made directly from observation of human cadavers.
