Red cloth with gilt titling to spine and cover, sunning to spine, head and foot of spine shows shelf wear, bottom text edge soiled, pages uncut, interior clean. Second edition. Good condition. Edited by Charles L. Camp. The definitive edition, 1450 copies. The adventures of a trapper and overland emigrant as told in his own reminiscences and diaries. "The author was one of the first white men to traverse South Pass and, in 1826, to circumnavigate the Great Salt Lake. His diaries cover the years 1844-47 and describe his adventures on the Oregon and the Oregon-California Trails, including the time spent in San Francisco in 1845. In 1848 he settled permanently in California, where he died at his Napa ranch in 1881.
