About This Item
London: Ward Lock Green cloth hardcover without dust jacket, undated (but this edition c1900, lacking the author's "Note To The Third Edition" dated "April13th, 1848", lacking the two photographs dated 1901 included in later printings, and lacking the frontpiece portrait of Bronte, probably a cheaper edition or a library edition); 412 pages; ex-library copy with several rubber stamps (but no labels or card pocket), moderate cover edge wear (gilt spine lettering very faded but legible), page fore edges age darkened, foxing to edges, several tiny fore edge spot stains with a hint of penetration to page margins, tiny tears to edges of a few pages, scattered light foxing, spine slanted, some looseness developing, but still tight in binding, text otherwise clean and unmarked, still a decent copy of this very scarce edition. Of similar vintage, see also our listings for Jane Austen's Mansfield Park, and William Makepeace Thackery's Vanity Fair.. Hard Cover. Fair.
