Engraved frontispiece with tissue guard; large folding map to pocket to rear (approx 70 cm x 22 cm). Spine very slightly creased and tips a little rubbed; upper corner of upper board bruised, otherwise covers clean and bright. Very faint "ghost" marks to ffep where pencil inscription has been erased; rear endpapers slightly toned. Small bookseller's sticker top corner of front pastedown. Several minor splits to map at folds, and single split approx 5 cm. A Very Good copy. Comprehensive guide to Hadrian's Wall and district with attractive gilt panels and vignette to upper board. Scarce, especially with the map which is often lacking.
