New York: Random House, 1968. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Hardcover. Teddy Kollek (1911-2007) was the first mayor of reunited Jerusalem from 1965 to 1993. He arrived in Haifa from Vienna in 1935. Early in his career he worked in many European countries to try to negotiate the escape of Jews from Hitler, and subsequently promoted the establishment of an independent Jewish state. Moshe Pearlman (1911-1986) was an Israeli writer whose works included What has been happening in Palestine (1937) and The capture and trial of Adolf Eichmann (1963). He was a special assistant to Moshe Dayan during the Six-Day War. This work captures the drama of Jerusalem from its founding in the 3rd century BC up through the Six-Day War of 1967. Multiple photographs and drawings in color and black-and-white throughout. Small quarto. Blue cloth covered boards with light blue title to front cover and gilt title to spine. Gold/blue dust jacket with photographs and artwork. Title in black to front panel and to spine panel. Dust jacket is price-clipped. Pages are bright and clean. 287 pages, including index.
