New York: Marstin Press, 1945. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. A very scarce volume, in dust jacket, that chronicles the Jewish soldier's experience in World War II via letters home. Of particular note was a number of letters from novelist Leon Uris (1924-2003) on pp. 223-225 and is recognized as Uris' first published work. He began to write seriously in the 1950s, publiishing his most famous novel, "Exodus" in 1958. iii, 304 pp. Wear and scuffing to dust jacket, some soiling, small chips at edges, tiny losses at head and foot of spine, now in mylar cover. Green cloth boards with little wear, gold embossed titling to spine.

N. Y. : Martin Press, 1945. Cloth. 1st edition. Original Cloth, 8vo, 304 pages. Jewish WWII GI letters; Notably this book includes five letters by future "Exodus" novelist Pfc. Leon M. Uris, then 20 years old, under the heading "This Is My War -- Personally" on page 223. This is Uris' first published work -- five years later, he sold his first story to Esquire. Most letters are illustrated with small black and white photo of the soldier. Damp stain at front hinge, extending to spine, which is slightly cocked. Previous owner's name on blank front pastedown, Otherwise Good solid attractive condition. Rare. (holo2-122-39).
