New York: Harper and Brothers, 1917. First Edition. First Edition.

Lewis' fourth book and his first work of serious fiction, the story of a woman working in a man's world, an early call for sexual equality in the workplace. Lewis would continue on to a successful and lasting career as one of the major American authors from the early to mid twentieth century. In 1930, he became the first American to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Fine in a Very Good example of the scarce dust jacket. Light offsetting on the endpapers, else book is clean and fresh. Dust jacket evenly toned, with a chip to the crown affecting the "E" in "THE." With cello tape reinforcements along the edges and spine folds.
