New York: Doubleday, 1962. Cloth. Fine. A fine first edition, as stated, in a very good slipcase. Complete in two volumes. Green cloth boards with red and gold title stamping on spine. Previous owner's stamp on first free endpaper. Slipcase shows some rubbing on front edge and tiny split at top corner, plus sunning to rear of slipcase.. 2 volumes (xx, 1170 pages) : illustrations, portraits, facsimiles ; Octavo. This is the first biography of John Adams to be written since the great treasury of his papers and letters became available to scholars. Adams was one of the saltiest and most perceptive diarists and letterwriters in our history and these volumes illuminate the character of a man who was, even in his lifetime, a symbol of New England and America -- worldcat
