Chicago: The Werner Company, 1895. Two volume set. Vol. I: 602 pp. Chapters include: Admission to the Bar and Early Political Life; Recollections of the Financial Panic of 1857; The Beginning of Lincoln's First Administration; I Begin My Duties as Secretary of the Treasury. Vol. II: 603-1239 pp. with index. Chapters include: Last Days of the Hayes Administration; The Presidential Nomination in 1880; Visit to Cuba and the Southern States; Republican National Convention of 1888; Attempts to Stop the Purchase of Silver Bullion. Both volumes handsomely bound in green cloth with gilt lettering and image of John Sherman on front cover and gilt lettering on spine. Both volumes have cover corners bumped, edges rubbed, spine edges bent and slightly fraying. Ex. library with identification numbers on bottom spine, library bookplate on front inside cover, hole stamp on title page, due date list and security sticker on back free endpaper, bar code and pocket envelope on back inside cover. Endpapers are green and gilt flowers. Volume I and II have broken front hinges. Volume II has torn tissueguard on photo frontispiece. Interior pages are lightly browning along edges, otherwise clean. Volumes are both in VG condition.. Hard Cover. Very Good. Illus. by Portraits, Facsimiles, Scenes. Size: Approx. 6 3/4" x 9 1/2". Autobiography.
