Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz (1807-1873), was a Swiss paleontologist, glaciologist, geologist and a prominent innovator in the study of the Earth's natural history. He was a professor of natural history at University of Neuchâtel, later, he accepted a professorship at Harvard University. His work "Nomenclator zoologicus" was published in 1842-47. Der Akademie Ubergeben Den, 1856. Cloth - Hard Cover. Very Good+/No Jacket. 4to. Extracted from the Transactions of the Akademie Ubergeben, Vol. XXVI, Part I. Pp: 33-86, plus three folding plates. Two plates showing the skull of the grizzly bear, and one beautifully hand colored plate of the bear. Recently bound in green cloth boards, and black cloth with gold lettering on spine. Paper shows some signs of age, and the third (b/w) plate shows slightly creased corners. Contents are otherwise clean and intact.

Covers show just a hint of rubbing, and remain bright and clean. Book plate of J. H. Bullard on front paste down, and his inked name with the date of 1922 is seen on the first blank page following free end page. Small book seller's decal at bottom of front free end page, and light rubbing/scuffs can be seen on the same page. Volume remains tight and is otherwise bright and clean. A lovely copy of this scarce title.
