First edition, 8vo, xxxi, (i), 658 pp. 26 plates and 2 maps - one folding, a little foxing to the front and rear blanks, marbled endpapers, slightly worn bookplate. Contemporary gilt edged calf, rebacked retaining the original rather worn backstrip.
