First Printing, 1954. 1/4" to 3/8" chipping along bottom edge dj with some additional tiny chips to same, else, Pristine, no wear. No markings, binding tight, clean, white and bright. 6" x 8.25". Black quarter-cloth with brown paper-covered boards, blind stamped decorative front board, gilt lettering to front board and spine, and black top text block. Illustrated, Not Price Clipped, dj in acetate protector. "The annals here transcribe Carp's difficulties as a landlord,- with a leaking pipe, with a somnabulistic paying guest, and with a Mrs. Luby whose profession is doubtful- to all save Edwin. A decorous diversion which through the absurdities of a Victorian gentility and a homiletic flow of phrase manages quite some humor, of a special nature.".
