"The annals here transcribe Carp's difficulties as a landlord,- with a leaking pipe, with a somnabulistic paying guest, and with a Mrs. Luby whose profession is doubtful- to all save Edwin. A decorous diversion which through the absurdities of a Victorian gentility and a homiletic flow of phrase manages quite some humor, of a special nature.".
