Some light foxing to some of the pages. Some of the illustrated plates have abstaining at the edges, which looks to have been the condition they were in when the book was bound. This was a landmark publication of the time, chronicling the establishment and development of the Salt Lake Valley and with a detailed sociological and historical look at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. .

There is wear and rubbing to the spine edges and corners, with the corners worn through. Volume 1 has discolored and faded spots on the front cover and the front cover is bowed outward a bit. The text blocks on both volumes are tight and the pages are clean and complete. The plates and map are present and in very good condition. A significant imprint in Mormon history. .
