Octavo, [x], 204pp. Black cloth, title stamped in silver on spine. Stated "first edition" on copyright page. Includes laid-in note from the Office of Senator Edmund S. Muskie. In publisher's dust jacket, $5.95 retail price on front flap, shelf wear and light rubbing along top edge. Scuff mark on signature page, below inscription by Muskie. Signed on the front free endpaper: "My best wishes. Ed Muskie." Edmund Muskie (1914-1996) served as the 58th Secretary of State under President Jimmy Carter. Earlier in his career he represented the state of Maine, as Governor from 1955-1959 and United States Senator from 1959-1980. He ran for Vice President of the United States in 1968 alongside Hubert Humphrey. Muskie died in 1996.
