About This Item
London: Guilford Press Limited, 1947. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. The interior of the book is clean and fresh, with lightly tanned paper, but no marks or signatures. There is some discolouration near the crease on the end pages. The blue cloth covers are clean and bright wtih some light edgewear and bumps to corners. The embossed gilting is still present, but has dulledslightly. The dust jacket is only in Fair condition with shallow chips and nicks of paper missing along the edges of the front panel and title. The top of the back panel has an irregular strip (about 1 inch deep) of missing paper. The attached scan shows this in detail. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: Young Julie and her mother return to England to live with her mother's family -- fierce old Lord Cavanagh and his artistic grandson Edward in an old castle in Shropshire. The children get to kow the secrets of the narrow valley, adventure at night and wild hill ponies and gypsies, but the real questions revolve around the identities of Dicon A'Dale and his band of stalwarts.
