About This Item

New York: Villard Books, 1995. First Edition. . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The fourth novel from sports columnist and reporter Lupica features DiMaggio, ex-baseball catcher, former lawyer, pretty fair jazz pianist and private investigator specializing in sports issues. This time a young woman has accused two NY Knicks basketball players, including superstar, Ellis "Fresh" Adair, of rape and the Knicks hire DiMaggio to find the truth behind the allegation. Then murder happens. First Edition with the correct First Printing number line reading 24689753 (2nd Printing number line reads 23456789). A single, quarter-inch dent under the "I" in Lupica on dj's front panel has produced similar light dent on front cover. Light bumping and wear at spine ends, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. Dustjacket also shows a half-dozen tiny dents on the back panel, and minor edgewear at spine ends and corners. No significant tears, creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. An acceptable reading copy from an author who knows sports and makes his story believable.
