Hardcover without dust jacket, later (1956) printing, xliii + 518 pages including 94 Figures (detailed black-and-white drawings) throughout; red cloth covers with gilt spine lettering, very gentle bumps to spine ends and bottom cover corners, not a trace of shelf wear, tight in binding, ink signature on free front endpaper, otherwise very gently read, if at all, very clean and unmarked throughout, pages surprisingly fresh and white, no foxing, an exceptional copy, fine except for the signature.
