NOT ex-library. Rebound copy includes original paper covers; half-bound (spine, part of the boards, and corners) in red leather with gilt ruled borders over red cloth. Spine has two raised bands with gilt dashes. Top panel has gilt title; long center panel has gilt rule borders and dot pattern. Floral device in bottom panel. Marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. Original color paper front cover and final Ex Oriente Lux back cover bound in. Full-color frontispiece by A. Touchet. Text pages have brown decorative borders and green embellishments. This copy has moisture damage to the back cover which has caused the cloth to move towards fore edge and just cover the diagonal gold rule borders. The cloth is loosened at the fore edge. The rear endpaper and last two pages have some spotting and light wrinkling from the moisture exposure. No other pages affected. Leather worn at edges, with some flaking at the external front hinge. Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked. Spine leather somewhat darkened. Name in ink on first blank flyleaf after endpapers. Text pages clean and unmarked. A few small pencil notations in corners of last blank pages. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Free endpapers darkened at edges from contact with leather. 173 pages. Half-title page has title "La reconnaissance de Sakountala" (The Recognition of Sakuntala). Printed by G. Kadar, Paris. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
