About This Item
1890. A large tinted lithograph by the artist who is best known for his part in fashioning the 'legend of the nineties' with his original illustrations for "While the Billy Boils" by Henry Lawson, and "Dot and the Kangaroo" by Edith Pedley. He also contributed to the Sydney Mail, the Bulletin and the Australian Town and Country Journal. The scene shows a hunting party in which 3 greyhounds have cornered a large kangaroo, with a gentleman rushing in to club him. Others approach on horseback from the upland side. Large lithograph, 19 x 14", no margins, one flattened fold. Sml piece of top left corner missing, o/w very good condition. Unusual- lithographs of this type were usually created in the earlier part of the 19th century. We have found no reference to this image.
