Amsterdam.: Stedelijk Museum., 1961. Original publisher's printed wrappers.. 4to. (270 x 200 mm).. Illustrated throughout in both colour and black and white on a variety of paper stocks, with some coloured lithographic images and glassine fold-out pages. Exhibition catalogue for Karel Appel at the Stedelijk Museum, 1961. The exhibition also travelled by the Gemeentesmuseum Den Haag later the same year. With a text (printed in Dutch) by Lucebert, 'appel's verflichaam leeft', and a text by Bert Schierbeek. An extensive biography of the artist is printed at the rear. Sheet with a list of works loose within. Typically elegant catalogue designed by Wim Crouwel, who was solely responsible for the Stedelijk's graphic output from the early 1960s.
