Tokyo: Tokyo shoseki, 1996. 159p., very good in wraps, text in Japanese. English title "My Caribbean Days" on cover. The author is a New York-based Japanese journalist. This book records her experiences on several visits to Jamaica, Martinique, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad and Tobago. She notes how she initially went to the Caribbean thinking she could spend some time leisurely napping on beaches but became fascinated with Caribbean culture. She focuses particular attention on the musical scenes in the countries she visits: reggae, calypso, soca, etc. The volume is illustrated with her drawings (both B&W and color) as well as numerous photographs.
