Hardcover Book in Near Fine Condition with a Very Good Unclipped Dust Jacket. This volume contains a short biography and selections from Greenaway's best-known as well as little-known works, some never before published; a collection of texts and pictures, her lovely 19th century water colors and drawings. The author says that "--no artist has captured the endearing aspects of childhood so exquisitely or with more originality". Very clean and unmarked orange cloth, black titled on backstrap; lower edge of boards are rubbed, with a touch of wear to corners. Tight and solid. Interior is pristine. Glossy jacket is clean and unmarked, a chip at the spine head, touch of wear at spine tail; near the center right by the spine fold there is a one inch scratch that goes through the jacket.The large, illustrated capital letters with which each chapters opens come from "The English-Spelling Book" as do the title page and half-title page illustrations. This volume contains a short biography and selections from Greenaway's best-known as well as little-known works: a collection of texts and pictures, her lovely 19th century water colors and drawings. The author says that "--no artist has captured the endearing aspects of childhood so exquisitely or with more originality". 138 pages plus an Illustrated List of Her Books and Index. 9.4 x 7.74 inches. Originally published by Viking, this is the First Printing of the Gallery Books reprint from 1976. Gallery Press, New York, 1983.
