Alfred A. Knopf. New York. 1951. FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. 8vo. (8.2 x 5.8 inches). x, 701pp. Illustrated with seven mono photo portrait plates, six of Mansfield and one of Middleton Murry. Tissue guard to frontis illustration. A fine copy in a fine leather binding by Bayntun (Riviere) of Bath. Full dark blue morocco. Spine with five raised bands, each with 3 gilt leaves. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Both boards have ruled and doted line borders with elaborate floral corner decorations. Board edges with flower and dot roll in gilt. Inner gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Two navy blue silk bookmarks sewn in. Neat previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown endpaper. A fine, beautifully bound copy.
