München: Verlag der Jugendblätter (Carl Schnell), 1910. A lovely copy of this first edition - scarce in its original protective slipcase. Book is in beautiful original condition. Clean blue cloth with a picture of a small boy driving a carriage tipped onto the front board and gilt titles and decoration around and to the spine. No significant marking or bumping to the boards - in excellent condition. Inside in excellent, clean and unmarked condition. The card slipcase is a little darkened / foxed with age. Publication details are on a paper label pasted to the slipcase. Although this has a little bumping / edgewear - it has done its part and kept the book in near perfect condition. Beautiful children's poems, 6 full-colour images, plus cover image in four-color print by Hermann Kaulbach and many black and white drawings in the text or as full page images by Kaulbach. Hermann von Kaulbach (1846–1909) was a German painter of the Munich School. He became best known for his portraits of children. 64 pages. 300 by 230mm (11¾ by 9 inches). .
