About This Item
Philadelphia: George W. Jakobs & Co., 1910. Hardcover. First edition; 11 x 8 1/2; pp. [76]; cloth-backed, illustrated paper over boards; rubbed spots to corners and edges; some wear to tips of spine; spotting to margins of front board; pages mostly very clean with occasional spots to margins; illustrated with 12 color plates and in-line b & w drawings; overall very good condition.A beautiful and scarce collaboration between two siblings, the book was written by author and comic strip artist Margaret Gebbie Hays (1874 - 1925) and illustrated by her sister Grace Dayton (Viola Grace Gebbie), who signed her illustrations Grace Wiederseim (1877 - 1936). The latter would become famous for her "Campbell Soup Kids" advertising campaign and for her Dolly Dingle paper dolls, which were published in the women's journal "Pictorial Review." The current book, written in "baby" language, followed a day full of fun activities of several adorable little tykes.
