About This Item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:

William L. DeAndrea: DeAndrea died in 1996 at the age of 44, cutting short his writing career. During that career, he published 25 novels, including four series of two to eight books. This is number five of eight in his Matt Cobb series.

L. B. Greenwood: L. B. Greenwood appears to have written three Sherlock Holmes novels and a few more short stories, all in the style of Conan Doyle. Unlike most DBC writers, Greenwood is far from prolific. This is the first of those three novels.

Thomas T. Noguchi, M.D. and Arthur Lyons: Noguchi gained some fame as the Chief Medical Examiner for Los Angeles County, aka "The Coroner to the Stars". He wrote two nonfiction works about being a coroner, and collaborated with Lyons on two mystery novels. This is the first of those novels, featuring Dr. Eric Parker.
