About This Item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:

Reginald Hill: British writer Hill wrote under his own name and three pen names. He was a winner of multiple awards for his writing. He created two series, the Dalziel and Pascoe series of 27 novels and the Joe Sixsmith series of five. Hill published an additional 24 stand alone novels. Hill died in 2012. This is the third Joe Sixsmith novel.

William Harrington: Prior to dying of suicide in 2000, Harrington wrote his own obituary, wherein he claimed to have been the ghost writer under the names of Harold Robbins and Margaret Truman. Outside of those books, Harrington wrote six Columbo novels, seventeen stand alone novels and one nonfiction book on crime. He also published a collaboration with Eleanor Roosevelt. This is the fifth Columbo novel.

Ruth Dudley Edwards: An author of histories, biographies and satirical mysteries. Her satirical mysteries were all in the Robert Amiss series (as in something's amiss?). So far, Edwards has kept a balanced life, having written a dozen novels and a dozen nonfiction works. This is the seventh entry in the Robert Amiss series.
