Berlin, Germany: Schwarzkopf and Schwarzkopf, 1996. A6 - A German language text trade paperback book in very good condition. An unread, tight, clean, sound with very minor overall shelf wear plus some light yellowing of the paper and some very light soiling on the right outside paper edges. Dietrich Kölling is angry. It bores him to sit at a desk waiting on the phone and sorting papers. But criminals also bore him. They all talk about their cruel childhoods as a way to transform themselves into victims in order to justify their behavior and minimize the risks to themselves. Dietrich Kölling is a former native of Hanover and hates living in dirty, broken Leipzig. He has ended up here because politicians are determined to provide West German police officers to help staff every East German police department. The author, Frank Goyke, was born in 1961 in Rostock. After high school Goyke served his military service in the army and even as early as this he was being published in literary magazines. In the summer of 1981 in Schwerin, he participated in 11th poetry seminar of the Zentralen Poetenseminars der FDJ. From 1983 to 1988 he studied theater arts in Leipzig. There he met fellow student Oliver Schwarzkopf, whose publishing house, (Edition Monade, Schwarzkopf and Schwarzko), would later publish most of Goyke's output in the 1990s. After university Goyke moved to Berlin where he worked as editor of 'Temperamente' and then as editor at the 'Verlag Neues Leben'. From 1991 to 1996, he was editor of a 'Berliner Off-Theate'. From 1991 to 1996 he was editor of the Jürgen Bonk led off-theater group 'manufaktur b'. Since 1997 he has continued to live and work in Berlin as a freelance writer, editor and publisher. Since 1992 he has published more than twenty books, primarily detective novels but also some nonfiction. In 1992 his second novel, 'Grüsse vom Boss (Greetings from the Boss)', was nominated for the prestigious 'Krimipreis Glauser ((Detective Story)' award. In 1996 his sixth novel 'Dummer Junge, toter Junge (Silly Boy, Dead Boy)' received the Raymond Chandler Society's 'Marlowe' award for best international crime novel. His crime fiction is notable for several series. One well-received series was published under the pseudonym Hans van Gulden and features Martin Roth, a gay Jewish writer and amateur investigator. He has written another well-received series featuring Inspector Dietrich Köllin as well as a series of historical mysteries set in the 14th to 16th centuries called the 'Hansekrimis'. In 2008 he began a new series featuring a private investigator named Theodor Fontane. In addition to his thrillers Goyke also published documentation, literary guides and gay erotic literature in anthologies such as 'Mein schwules Auge (My Gay Eye)'. 4.9"x8.9", 351 seiten (pages).
