About This Item
Berlin: Printed for the Oriental Translation Fund of Great Britain and Ireland London: Sold by A. J. Valpy, A.M., Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, 1838. Later printing, after the first in 1832. Boards. Very good. 4to (29cm). Contemporary textured slate blue boards. pp. iv, 139. Latin text, with Sanskrit in Devanāgarī. Stenzler, German Indologist, and Sanskrit specialist, this his second work, a translation of Kālidāsa's Kumārasambhava. With some neat pencil markings by a later, probably C20th hand. Old bookseller's price to flyleaf, with some faint pencilled notes on the book and its contents. Offsetting to endpapers, boards marked, somewhat worn to tips, remnants of paper title label to spine. Still a firm, sound copy.
