Koln: Wallraf-Richartz Museum, 1971. two heavy clear vinyl covers with embossed lettering and an enormous textblock or collection of separate sheets, held together by two heavy metal bolts securing the clear hard plastic backstrip. this copy is in above average condition with no flaws. the large number of tipped-in plates tends to slightly ditort the flatness of the textblock.documents the large collection of international 1960s art formed by peter ludwig. each edition reflects additions to the collection. this is the fifth and last version in this stunning format. unpaginated, largely printed on light brown paper, the book opens with several introductory writings, with english translations, and then commences as an encyclopedia, starting with albers and ending with wols. each artist is represented by one or more tipped-in color plates, relevant details, and an image of the artist printed on a clear transparency. the book was designed by wolf vostell, and is a work of art in itself. there appear to be over 225 tipped-in plates, including a small section at back devoted to prints..
