Contributing to the debates on the decline, crisis, and mutation of the Argentine labor movement in the long term, Santella argues that labor unrest persisted among leading industries through the 1990s well into the new century, though to a lesser extent in terms of historical perspectives; that this contention should be related to the micro and macro-levels, or manufacturing, sectional, and national levels; that the relative decline of industrial unrest was the result of productive material development and hegemonic regimes; and that the decline in manufacturing contention does not imply the disappearance of the labor dispute, which finds expression in other sectors.
